The Championship Course
Designed by the legendary Donald Steel, The Championship Course remains one of the best hidden gems in the country. Opened in 1990 and set in a stunning area of parkland, it was named regional 'Golf Course of the Year' in 1995. Steel has created a challenge that is characterised by unique and distinctive holes with expansive water hazards and cascading waterfalls among the tests.
Signature Holes
The signature hole at on the Championship Course is up for debate, with several strong holes contending. The 3rd hole, a Par 5 at 602 yards plays from an elevated tee and temps the longer hitters into hitting it in two. However, the lake guarding the green will gobble up any errant approach shots. The back 9 possesses two more signature worthy holes; the Par 3 14th, commonly named 'The Horn', which plays at 131 yards and is surrounded by water and the Par 4 17th, 'Waterloo', also guarded by water.
The Premier Course
The Premier Course offers stunning scenery, with some great holes to go with it. Overlooking vast Cheshire plains, this course will challenge beginner golfers, as well as the more advanced. The dramatic natural undulations of the Cheshire sandstone ridge means each hole has a distinct and unique character, providing 18 very individual challenges. The impressive colonial-style clubhouse offers magnificent panoramic views across the golf course.
Signature Holes
There is no doubt that the stunning Par 3 15th hole is the signature hole of the Premier Course. The hole plays 200 yards off the whites from a serious elevation, revealing stunning views of the Cheshire countryside. The Par 3 7th hole, cut out of a sandstone quarry offers a comparably different challenge, shooting up to an elevated green. Be sure to club up!
